Basecamp at Mendip Activity Centre in Winscombe is an off-grid, wild campsite open to the public. Tucked away in the North Somerset countryside, this secluded site is ideal for reconnecting with nature, while still offering plenty to do, including a fantastic on-site activity centre and a floodlit ski slope.
Our campsite is in a countryside setting, ideal for nature lovers looking for somewhere special to stay. The spacious site is available for tents or campervans. You can camp wherever you like, ensuring you get a spot that suits all your needs.
Basecamp is a basic, off-grid, family campsite but still offers all the essential luxurious you need for a relaxing getaway: flushing toilets, a pop-up shop, hot showers, a licensed cafe-bar, USB chargers, washing up areas, ice-pack freezers and firepits.
No tent? No problem. You can also stay in our nomadic bell tents that sleep up to 6 people, the perfect alternative to the traditional camping experience. Camp mattresses are provided, you’ll just need your own sleeping bags, pillows and outdoor cooking equipment. Glamphouse safari tents are available too, with each sleeping up to 6 people. They come complete with six mattresses and a picnic bench.
Just a short woodland walk away is our activity and snowsport centre. We have instructors who will tailor their sessions to meet your age/experience. Activities to enjoy include target sports ranges, watersports, a frisbee golf centre, tobogganing and a rocksport Quarry.
Mendip Lodge is a short stroll from camp and serves refreshing local ciders and beers, loaded fries, stone-baked pizzas and pies. On cooler evenings, stay toasty and roast marshmallows around the firepit or relax in the beer garden when the sun is shining.
Our well stocked camp shop sells all of your favourite foods, drinks, snacks and camping essentials. In the mornings you can even get a barista coffee and breakfast bap from the pop up shop in the heart of the camping fields.
