Situated in the heart of Devon, Bowhayes Farm invites you to settle among the scenic rows of a working cider orchard, where hedgerows rustle and the rolling fields of East Devon frame every view. Here, each visit is woven into the natural rhythms of the countryside, letting you slow down and breathe in the orchard’s sweet, earthy fragrance. Choose from snuggling up in one of our well‑appointed bell tents or pitching your own beneath the apple trees; whichever you prefer, a quiet corner of the orchard is waiting for you.
Bell Tents
With only a handful of pre‑erected bell tents, each pitched more than 50 metres apart, Bowhayes Farm promises true intimacy amid the orchard’s tranquillity. Every spacious five‑metre tent is furnished with a king‑size bed dressed in soft bedding, a cosy seating area and extra blankets for cooler nights, while battery lanterns and fairy lights create an enchanting glow after dusk. Evenings revolve around the Devon Firepit, where a generous supply of logs keeps the flames flickering as you trade stories beneath the stars. Encircled by whispering apple trees and serenaded by birdsong, you’ll feel miles from traffic and immersed in a peaceful wildlife sanctuary.
Camping Pitches
Each grass pitch is a two person pitch & accommodates up to three guests on a plot measuring roughly 3.5 metres wide by 5 metres deep, with at least ten metres of space between neighbours to maintain a sense of privacy. Up to two well‑behaved dogs are welcome, provided they stay on leads and owners clean up after them. Rustic, unisex showers and toilets complete the facilities, ensuring a tranquil and comfortable stay.
Shepherd's Hut
The shepherd’s hut is a cosy retreat furnished with a comfortable double bed, contemporary décor, a wood‑burning stove and a small dining area, along with tea and coffee facilities. It offers a charming base for relaxing and making memories amid the great outdoors.
Visiting the Area
Immerse yourself in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where the morning rush is nothing more than a chorus of birdsong. Take an unrushed wander through the cider orchards, pause for a homemade treat at the farm café and head out on a nature walk to discover the local wildlife and seasonal flora. The shepherd's hut is open all year for bookings and the tents are open end of April until mid October.
Rates: Shepherd's Hut from £90 - £120 per night.
Camping from £22 per pitch per night 2 people, extra person £5.
Bell Tent from £80 - £95 per night.
Small campervans are welcome by arrangement, no touring caravans or motorhomes please.
