The Old Rectory is situated in a picturesque location on the border of Devon and Cornwall, within the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is conveniently close to the market town of Tavistock, Morwellham Quay (known for the Edwardian Farm) with outstanding views across Dartmoor National Park.
We are a small, family-run park offering 36 pitches in total for tents, touring caravans and motorhomes. Our tranquil setting is loved by all and we are conveniently located near sites of significant historical interest and natural beauty. We have 22 tent pitches in the field, 11 touring pitches (5 of which are hard standing, 6 grass) and 3 privately enclosed pitches.
In addition to traditional camping options, we offer 4 glamping pods. Three standard pods sleep up to two adults and two small children each, while one family pod accommodates up to four adults. Our pods provide a unique camping experience with picnic tables for dining or relaxing with a glass of wine. Please read details of the pods on our website - take everything you would normally take camping except the tent. The shower block is conveniently located behind the pods, ensuring easy access to amenities.
Guests can enjoy walking in our dedicated dog-walking area and admire the spectacular views across to Dartmoor from our Camping Field. Onsite, we have a smallholding where we produce our own cider and we keep bees, chickens, ducks and Gloucester Old Spots pigs. Please also note we are low on pigs this year due to rising cost of animal feed and allowing the grounds to recover from 38 pigs last year - we just have 'George' at the moment.
We are proud to have created and offer a voluntary carbon offset credit scheme, where donations or proceeds from guests' electric usage are used to plant apple trees. Each tree absorbs approximately 2 tonnes of CO2 per year and produces enough oxygen in a month to keep a human being breathing for 2 years! Smart meters are included to monitor energy consumption. We have recently (Oct 2024) been selected to represent Caravan & Camping classification as an Ambassador site in the Visit Tamar Valley/Green Acorn 2 year initiative to promote sustainable tourism.
There is a wealth of activities to explore in the area, including archery at our own Archery GB Registered Archery Club (Tamar Valley Archers, led by Declan, an Archery GB Level 2 and World Archery Level 3 Coach.
