Little Trethvas Camping & Touring Site

The Lizard, Helston, Cornwall

Description

Little Trethvas Camping & Touring Site is a small, welcoming park set on the unspoilt Lizard Peninsula, one of Cornwall’s most striking landscapes. Sheltered by gently rolling farmland yet close to wild cliffs and hidden coves, it offers an ideal base for exploring this extraordinary corner of the county.

The site offers 29 pitches altogether, seven hard-standing pitches with electric hook-ups, two extra-large electric pitches, four extra-large non-electric pitches, plus 12 large electric and four large non-electric pitches.

Both the caravan and camping fields are level and serviced by a mains water supply, with a foul-water disposal point conveniently on hand. Cornish hedges enclose each meadow, giving peace of mind that neither children nor pets can wander off. The centres of the fields are kept clear so youngsters have plenty of space to fly kites or set up impromptu games of cricket and rounders under wide Cornish skies.

Modern facilities make life easy after a day of play. Six free hot showers and five toilets are available, alongside a washing-up area and a utility room equipped with a washing machine, two fridges, a freezer and local tourist information. A communal washing line is available for airing clothes and wetsuits.

Little Trethvas also features beautifully furnished bell tents, each designed to give guests a cosy, hassle-free glamping experience. Everyone staying on site enjoys use of the shared facilities, hot showers, convenient food-storage areas and once a week, a wood-fired pizza oven that brings campers together for an evening of good food and conversation. The result is a warm, welcoming community spirit that sets Little Trethvas apart from other campsites.

Keen to protect the local environment, we allow wild flowers and grasses to flourish around the field edges, creating new wildlife habitat and ensuring zero light pollution so the night sky can be admired in all its glory. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, two per pitch as standard, more by prior arrangement (although they must remain on a lead and resist the temptation to chase our free-range bantams and ducks). If you fancy a gentle stroll, our friendly spaniel Poppy is always eager for an outing and children are especially welcome to walk her. Guests can also pop by to cuddle the resident guinea pigs; just ask Liz and she’ll introduce you.

With celebrated beauty spots such as Kynance Cove, Lizard Point and the Helford River only a short drive away, guests can spend their days discovering beaches, coastal paths and characterful fishing villages before returning to the friendly atmosphere of the site. The combination of tranquil surroundings and easy access to local highlights makes a stay at Little Trethvas both relaxing and rich in unforgettable memories.

There is lots to enjoy in the area surrounding the site from watching basking sharks and seals through to visiting the Standing Stones. Helston town is close by has several good places to eat and some shops. Places to visit nearby include Trebah Gardens, Glendurgan Gardens, Kynance Cove and Crealy.
