Port Nan Gael Campsite

Port Nan Gael, Pennyghael, Isle of Mull

Onsite

Description

Port Nan Gael Campsite offers a modern, contactless camping experience in one of the most beautiful locations on the west coast of Scotland. Whether you’re arriving with a tourer, pitching a tent or choosing to glamp, this peaceful coastal site is the perfect place to escape and unwind. Just steps from the shore, guests can enjoy sea swimming, stargazing, or simply relaxing while surrounded by breathtaking views.

For tourers, the site welcomes campervans, caravans and rooftop tents, with pitch numbers selectable at the time of booking. Each hardstanding pitch measures 6x6 metres and offers both sea and mountain views. Tent campers can set up in the grass camping field, where there’s space for traditional tents, tipis and bell tents. Each tent pitch also includes a parking space in the nearby car park, helping to preserve the grassy areas. Like the touring pitches, all camping guests enjoy the same generous 6x6 metre area and uninterrupted views of the coast and hills.

Every guest at Port Nan Gael Campsite benefits from sea and mountain views, access to excellent facilities and free Wi-Fi throughout. The site itself sits on a raised shingle beach facing west, making it one of the best spots on the island to watch the sunset. Facilities include toilet and shower blocks, an accessible and family shower room, hook-ups with up to 16-amp electrical supply, recycling and waste points, washing and drying facilities and a chemical waste disposal area. There are also fresh water standpipes, a pot wash station and designated areas for dogs, bikes and boots to be cleaned. A playpark and private access to the neighbouring pub and restaurant add to the convenience and enjoyment of your stay.

For those seeking a little extra comfort, our glamping pods offer a cosy and fully furnished stay, ideal for families or travellers looking for adventure with a touch of luxury. Each pod is designed for up to two adults and two children (kids stay for free). Every pod includes sea and mountain views, a double bed with linens and towels, a sofa lounge area, an en-suite shower room, heated towel rails, USB charging points and a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and toaster. Guests also enjoy high-speed Wi-Fi via an individual pod router and outdoor furniture with a firepit is provided for evenings under the stars. Optional extras include linen for the bunk beds or the option to bring pets. There are two accessible pods with parking.

The site’s newest accommodation option, the Hideouts, are hand-built by local craftsmen using sustainable materials to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Each Hideout offers sea and mountain views, a comfortable double bed with fresh linens and towels, USB points, a tea tray with kettle and fridge and access to shared bathroom facilities. Outdoor seating and a firepit are also provided and free Wi-Fi is available throughout.

Onsite we also have a dog run and a washing station for dogs, bikes and boots.

Just a short walk from the campsite, The Inn at Port Nan Gael offers a welcoming space to enjoy hearty meals made from the finest local produce, alongside a selection of drinks in a relaxed setting. Our licensed shop provides a variety of essentials and local products, including takeaway hot drinks, meats, fish, cheese, fresh produce and organic foods. Guests will also find household supplies, toiletries, cleaning products, island gifts and a range of alcoholic beverages. There’s even a self-service laundry for added convenience.

For those looking for traditional accommodation, The Inn also features seven unique en-suite guest rooms, providing the same warm hospitality and stunning views that make Port Nan Gael such a special place to stay.
