Killegruer Caravan Site is located on the west coast of the Kintyre Peninsula, 12 miles north of Campbeltown and 24 miles south of Tarbert, Loch Fyne. It accommodates touring caravans, motorhomes and tents, offering stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean towards the islands of Gigha, Islay and Jura.
The campsite has 15 pitches in total and is open from April to October and provides a range of well-maintained facilities to ensure a comfortable stay. Guests have access to a clean and modern toilet block equipped with free hot showers, as well as hair dryers and hand dryers. There is also a dishwashing facility with plenty of hot water, a chemical disposal emptying point, and grey waste disposal (please note, this is not drive-over). The campsite offers touring and camping pitches with 16-amp electric hook-up, catering to a variety of needs.
One of the campsite's highlights is its direct access to a safe, sandy beach, where campfires are permitted and logs can be purchased on-site. For added convenience, a local shop delivery service is available and picnic benches are provided for guests to enjoy outdoor meals. The site is dog-friendly, offering expansive beach walks that are perfect for pets and their owners. Transport links to Campbeltown and Glasgow are conveniently located at the site entrance, making it easily accessible. The campsite is also an excellent stopover for those travelling to Arran, Ardrossan, Gigha, or Islay, as it is situated close to ferry terminals.
Nearby, guests can find additional facilities including a village shop, a garden centre with a café and a public house with a restaurant. However, it is worth noting that the site is not suitable for lightweight tents and strong pegs are recommended due to its exposed location. Advance booking is essential during peak holiday periods, with a minimum stay of two nights required.
The area is a haven for walkers and you can enjoy a variety of wildlife, including seals, otter and dolphins. The beach at Killegruer is a great spot for surfers and Machrihanish, Southend and Carradale boast great golf courses. A range of attractions are in Argyll, including:
