Tan Hill Inn provides wild camping and touring pitches in the breathtaking Yorkshire Dales, offering a truly unique stay near Richmond in a peaceful countryside setting. It’s the perfect destination for anyone seeking a quiet retreat surrounded by wide-open landscapes and unspoilt natural beauty. The site is home to the world-famous Tan Hill Inn, Britain’s highest pub at 1,732 feet above sea level, making it an unforgettable place to relax, unwind and experience the charm of this remarkable upland location.
We offer pitches for wild camping, motorhomes and camper vans. We no longer take bookings, you can simply turn up and get a spot. Please check in at the bar pay your £10 and receive a parking pass. Limited facilities include one outside toilet and shower.
Onsite, guests can relax and unwind in our welcoming pub, where delicious food is served alongside a selection of excellent ales from local breweries. We also offer a wide range of bottled ciders, spirits, wines and soft drinks, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
This part of the country has lots of walking routes to enjoy whilst admiring the natural landscape. The nearest shops are in Kirby Stephen, around a 25 minute drive away. Attractions to visit include:
