How Stean Gorge in the Yorkshire Dales offers rustic lodges with hot tubs sleeping 4, 6 and 10 and pitches for campers and tourers in a picturesque setting. Our site is 17 miles from Grassington and 22 miles from Harrogate North Yorkshire and is a great base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales.

Nestled in a stunning countryside location with its own amazing gorge and underground caves and a host of outdoor activities available, you can savour stunning views of the Dales. We also offer plenty of space in the campsite area for playing games on the grassy slopes and having fun. A number of 8-berth troop tents are available if you don’t have your own tent.

This is a quite camp site and we ask that campers do no play music as it can disturb others who are trying to relax, thank you.

Unique Glass Floored Cantilevered Café
The only cantilevered cafe with a glass floor in the UK. Look down into the gorge below and see explorers and gorge walkers scramble through the water. (Licenced – Open Daily: 9am with last food orders at 4.00pm - or by arrangement).

At How Stean Gorge, you can visit the amazing ravine and explore natural underground caves and tunnels – bring your wellies and a torch to discover every interesting feature (admission ticket required). You can challenge yourself to exhilarating outdoor activities such as gorge walking, rock climbing, canyoning, caving, and our via ferrata high wire course – one of only 3 in the UK. All of our activities are led by our expert, friendly team of outdoor instructors. Prior booking is essential.
The local area is perfect for walkers and cyclists, with many beautiful routes to enjoy. In nearby Pateley Bridge you can visit The Nidderdale Museum, the Oldest Sweet Shop and Studfold Adventure Trail and the old picturesque High Street. Other towns and villages include Masham, Grassington, Ripon and Harrogate.
