Daisy Roundhouse Yurt
This yurt is set in a commanding position with views across wildflower meadows and a freshwater lake. It is fully insulated with eco-friendly materials and fitted with double-glazed tilt-and-turn windows. Guests have their own composting eco toilet in the ‘Throne Room’ and mains electricity as a backup to the off-grid ethos. Inside, there is a unique bespoke king-size bed with quality bedding, a log-burning stove with fire irons, a bucket of logs and firelighters, a cordless kettle, four plug sockets with USB ports and solar-powered lighting and fairy lights connected to an array of 32 solar panels. For dining, guests can enjoy the use of a communal kitchen with gas hobs, fridge, microwave and full cooking utensils, along with freshly ground coffee, hot chocolate, assorted teas and flatware exclusive to Rose Hollow guests. Additional features include a covered veranda with seating, indoor table and chairs that can be moved to catch the morning sun or evening sunset, coat hooks and storage for shoes and luggage.
Starlight Mirror Dome
Situated in a wildflower meadow and overlooking a serene lake, Starlight is more than just a place to stay; it is a tranquil retreat that mirrors the beauty of the natural world and offers an ever-changing panorama of Acorn Glade’s seasonal charm. Inside, guests can enjoy a unique handcrafted circular bed with soft king bedding, a log-burning stove with logs and firelighters for cosy evenings, solar fairy lights for a touch of magic and practical touches such as coat hooks, shoe storage and a private set of flatware. A veranda with table and chairs provides the perfect spot for slow mornings or sunset views, while a moveable indoor table and chairs add flexibility for dining or relaxing. The communal kitchen is equipped with gas hobs, fridge, microwave and full utensils, along with freshly ground coffee, hot chocolate, assorted teas and complimentary coffee and tea to enjoy as you wish. Just steps away, a hot indoor shower powered by air source heat pumps ensures comfort.
Rose Hollow
Rose Hollow is a quirky log cabin set in a beautiful location overlooking the lake, fully insulated with eco-friendly materials and three double-glazed windows. With a cosy log burner and a complimentary basket of logs, it is a welcoming retreat year-round. Inside, there is a bespoke double bed with soft bedding, solar fairy lights, a single-ring gas burner with kettle and movable table and chairs to enjoy the morning sun or evening sunset. Guests have access to a communal kitchen with gas hobs, fridge, microwave, a wine and beer cooler and all necessary cooking utensils, along with their own set of flatware reserved for Rose Hollow guests. A covered veranda with a double rocking chair offers a perfect place to relax, while practical features such as coat hooks and storage for shoes and bags make the space convenient as well as comfortable.
Bluebell Lodge
Set in a tranquil woodland area overlooking the lake, this traditional solid timber log cabin is fully insulated with double-glazed windows and doors, making it ideal for year-round living. The cabin is furnished with a king-size bed complete with duvet, pillows and bed linen, a log-burning stove with seating, a single-ring gas burner and kettle, and solar-powered lighting, including fairy lights and a lamp. Guests also have access to a communal kitchen with gas hobs, fridge and microwave, as well as their own private composting toilet and additional shared shower and toilet facilities. Outside, a covered decking area with a double rocking chair provides the perfect place to relax and guests are welcome to enjoy The Roost as well.

Set in 3.5 acres of woodland walks and wildflower meadows, Acorn Glade offers the chance to watch busy wildlife and enjoy the soothing symphony of birdsong. A private fishery provides the perfect spot for lazy days by the water’s edge, while friendly alpacas and wallabies add to the charm of this unique retreat. The emphasis here is on experiencing comfortable, eco-friendly, off-grid accommodation, surrounded by nature with ever-changing lakeside views to wake up to and fresh air to breathe in.
The Chicken Shed serves as a fully equipped communal kitchen where guests can cook and share meals, while The Roost provides indoor dining space, along with board games and crafting activities. Outdoors, a covered BBQ area using Yorkshire charcoal is available for relaxed evenings.
Visiting the Area
Just a short walk away, the village pub offers a hearty menu. The local area of Melbourne and its surroundings is often overlooked by visitors heading to York or the Yorkshire Dales, but it has plenty to offer. The Melbourne lock and Pocklington Canal are close by, the Yorkshire Wolds are ideal for cycling, walking and adventure, and Pool Bridge Farm and Allerthorpe Lakeside Park provide excellent opportunities for open-water swimming. The east coast is also within easy reach, with Bridlington, Bempton Cliffs, Filey and Scarborough just a 40-minute drive away.
