Deer's Leap Retreat is situated in North Devon, nestled on the edge of Exmoor National Park and within walking distance of wild Deer and open moorland. North Devon enjoys unique and varied landscapes and some of the country’s most stunning and breath-taking coastline. The scenery in and around Deer’s Leap Retreat is one of England’s hidden treasures, and those who discover us, find they want to return again and again.

Each of our lovely bell tents provides all the cosy comforts and modern conveniences you need, every tent has its own mains toilet and shower. There is Tea and Coffee facilities in each tent. Each tent has it’s own camping kitchen with all of the basics including a gas hob and grill, camping fridge, cutlery, crockery, glasses, tea towel and bin.

Each tent is equipped for two with clean bedding, a large cosy duvet and pillows, plus big soft towels for two. However, each tent can sleep up to four, but camping beds, bedding and towels will need to be brought with you for the additional two guests.

We have plenty to do at Deer’s Leap Retreat, enjoy sunsets by the lake, or star gazing from our patio, or maybe a traditional afternoon tea in our lakeside gazebo. Children will love rolling down our lawn, playing hide and seek among the trees, and picking daisy’s in the sunshine.

We also have an abundance of wild birds, pheasants, buzzards and lots of domestic animals too. Poppy, our friendly Beagle keeps company with Tinkerbell our beautiful Exmoor pony. We also keep a small herd of cows, a couple of jersey milking cows and chickens to name a few of our animal friends.

There is a games room with pool and table tennis tables, as well as a hard tennis court. Dogs are also welcome at Deer’s Leap Retreat, we allow up to 1 per tent.

We are happy to recommend picturesque walks for the casual walker or budding naturalist, strait from the doorstep. We have heather-clad hillsides, steep wooded valleys and meandering rivers all close by. Open moorland is within walking distance of Deer’s Leap and home to an abundance of wildlife including the ancient breed of Exmoor pony and Exmoor’s famous red deer. Among the flora to be found, are heath spotted orchids, sundew and wall pennywort.

Local activities include horse riding, fishing, golf and clay shooting. Regular tours of the moor leave from Dulverton, an ideal way to explore the area.

Deer's Leap is within easy reach of many local attractions, The Ancient Causeway of Tarr Steps, Anstey Common, Landacre Bridge and Dunkery Beacon to name a few. Several charming villages are also nearby including Dulverton, Winsford, Withypool and Exford.

North Devon and Exmoor also have some of the most beautiful beaches in the whole of the UK. Deer's Leap is within easy access of Croyde, Saunton sands, Woolacoombe and Lynton and Lynmouth. You can keep everybody happy with alternate day trips to the beach and local attractions.
