Setthorns Campsite offers a secluded and tranquil campsite situated among trees and bushes, perfect for a break away from the hustle and bustle. Its unique location provides the opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of the New Forest, where you can observe free-roaming ponies, deer, rare wild birds and other wildlife to your hearts content. This campsite is a haven for walkers and cyclists, with winding paths leading to new destinations at every turn, including access to a nearby disused railway line, an ideal starting point for your adventures.
Setthorns is a limited-facility campsite, meaning there are no showers or toilets, so visitors must bring their own chemical toilet. Barbecues are permitted but must be purpose-built for cooking food, robust, secure and elevated off the ground to prevent damage to the forest floor. To support the New Forest Action Plan, disposable barbecues are not allowed and campers should note that barbecues of any kind are prohibited outside the campsite.
For your safety and the well-being of the wildlife, please avoid feeding, petting, or approaching the animals around the campsite. While they may appear friendly, they can be unpredictable and may bite or kick. Additionally, ensure that all food is securely sealed and kept out of the ponies' reach.
The campsite offers a range of facilities, including battery charging points, a chemical disposal point, drinking water taps, electric pitches and pitches for tents, motorhomes, caravans and trailer tents. It is dog-friendly and also offers seasonal pitches and storage options.
