Black Isle Yurts offers glamping holidays with a difference, being set on an exclusive eco-sensitive wild site. Black Isle Yurts brings you closer to nature in an area of great bio-diversity, and the location allows spectacular cliff top views, as well as direct access to a dramatic coastline dotted with caves and secluded sandy beaches.
Our hand-crafted yurts are modelled on original designs from Central Asia where the sturdy structures have been used for thousands of years by nomadic people. Durable waterproof canvas replaces the traditional felt outer shell to take account of Scotland’s climate, but they retain a snug and cosy feel, especially when the wood-burning stove is lit. Our yurts also have windows to allow you to enjoy natural light and beautiful surroundings.
Each yurt is individually finished, furnished and equipped to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. Yurts available for rental include Holly Yurt, Aspen Yurt, Rowan Yurt, Willow Yurt, Juniper Yurt and the Hazel Geodome. A further two tents will be added over the course of the season.
Each yurt has:
A wood-burning stove and basket of firewood.
Comfy beds, duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels.
Table and chairs.
Two hob gas cooker/grill with pots, pans and a kettle.
Cutlery and crockery.
A lockable door.
An outdoor seating area (picnic bench or similar).
As the yurts are off-grid, the yurts are free from mains power and water supply. Instead, we provide solar/hand-powered lighting units and a refillable container of fresh water. Owing to popular demand, new composting toilets are planned to be sited at proximity to the yurts furthest from the Hub, for our guests' convenience and to provide an alternative to our other bathroom and toilet facilities at the Hub in times of high demand.
The Hub: Well-equipped shower, toilet and washing up facilities are located a few minutes’ walk from your yurt at The Hub, from where you can also enjoy breath-taking views of the Moray Firth. The Hub, which also serves as Black Isle Yurts' reception, linen storage and office area, is found just below our carpark. Here, if required, we will provide you with a wheelbarrow to assist you in transporting your luggage from the car to your yurt! The Hub also has baby-changing facilities in a special, accessible toilet/ shower-room. There is also a free Wi-Fi connection available from The Hub.
Black Isle Yurts is located between the historic Black Isle villages of Cromarty and Fortrose/Rosemarkie, approximately 30mins drive (17miles) north of Inverness, the capital city of the Highlands of Scotland.
