Penpont Holiday Park in Thornhill, Dumfries and Galloway, offers glorious campsite accommodation in spectacular countryside. We are the perfect place to escape to from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Surrounded by stunning countryside, we are perfect for a memorable holiday away. We offer tent 20 tent pitches, 22 touring pitches and 8 motorhome pitches.

The Park enjoys security gate access, free Wi-Fi and laundry facilities. We also have 8 holiday homes for sale – please enquire for details.

Aside from the natural environment including spectacular beaches, forest and countryside walks, Dumfries and Galloway has many great places to visit, from historic monuments to farm parks and museums to railways. The magnificent Forest of Ae is just 13 miles away from Penpont Holiday Park.

The 7 Stanes is a world renowned mountain biking trail at Ae, while the 212-mile long Southern Upland Way is a coast to coast walking trail stretching from Portpatrick in the far South West to Cockburnspath.

In addition to hillwalking, there are a number of high peaks can be found close by which are ideal for enthusiastic hill walkers. There are opportunities for golf and fishing (Penpont Park has fishing rights on the Scaur Water) and many places of interest to visit including Drumlanrig Castle, a category A listed castle and home of the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch and Queensberry. As well as tours of the castle, there are opportunities for shooting, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, wildlife and Land Rover tours. There are also walking festivals and other events taking place in the area throughout the year.

For keen cyclists, Dumfries and Galloway has more than 450 miles of signposted National Cycle Network routes; while for mountain bikers every trail is passible if they’re up for the challenge including the world renowned 7 Stanes Mountain Biking trails.
