Holme Valley Camping and Caravan Park
Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, Peak District National Park
Description
Home Valley Camping & Caravanning Park is nestled in a corner of the Holme Valley on the edge of the Peak District. Surrounded by 16 acres of woodland and meadows, it is a perfect base for exploring the outdoors. We are situated just a mile from Holmfirth with its wide range of individual shops, cafés, restaurants and galleries. However, if you crave a bit of city life, Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester are all within 45 minutes' drive away.
Camping:
We have a wide range of pitches many with electric hook-ups and on arrival, we like to offer our guests a choice which may range from lakeside or riverside, amongst the trees or in one of the meadows. There is also onsite food catering available most weekends.
Glamping:
We have five camping cabins for guests to enjoy a glamping experience! Perfect for those reluctant to sleep under canvas and prefer their home comforts or for those who just want to treat themselves to a little luxury on their outdoor holiday. The cabins at Holme Valley Camping were partly funded by the 'European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development' through the South Pennines LEADER project. All cabins include electric, heating and lighting. Please don't forget to bring your own tea towel, towels and bedding (sheets, pillows, duvets or sleeping bags.) You may also want to bring camping chairs to use outside.
On-site Facilities:
Along with the spacious showers and toilets, our new amenities block offers a little more luxury with our family bathrooms available to hire for a short period or the whole weekend. Our well-stocked, licensed shop is open into the evening and we also have a laundry room.
There are 2 play areas for children and of course, plenty of space for them to jump on their bikes and explore or they are welcome to head to the woods for den building or play hide and seek. We also hold children events in the summer and organise children’s activities during spring and summer from den building to outdoor craft.
Dogs are very welcome and the surrounding woodland is ideal for walking, however, we do strictly ask that they are kept on a lead in the park at all times.
The River Holme runs around the park and many water birds can be spotted including herons, dippers and kingfishers. Fishing can be enjoyed in the park in both the river and the lake. We strive to keep our business as green as possible and take time to support our local wildlife and their habitats. This is a paradise for walkers, horse riders and cyclists. Along with an abundance of beautiful countryside, we are lucky to be close to several reservoirs each of them enjoying stunning views.
National Trust’s Marsden Moor Estate, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest is just a 20-minute drive away. If you prefer to explore the surrounding area at a faster pace, there are several canal towpaths, ideal for cycling, in Marsden, Slaithwaite, Milnsbridge and Golcar or join part of the National Cycle Route 68 between Holmfirth and Marsden.
For a real challenge, head up Holme Moss, 525m above sea level with breathtaking views, part of the Tour de France route for 2014 which passed the entrance to our park.
After all the physical exertion, be sure to reward yourself with a pint of local ale at one of the award-winning pubs or breweries in the area or if coffee and cake is more your cup of tea, you will be spoilt for choice for cafés among the nearby rural villages.
