New House Organic Farm in Kniveton offers a truly ‘back to basics’ camping experience. Our campsite near Ashbourne in Derbyshire is on a working farm. Our campsite is perfect for a truly authentic camping holiday in a lovely rural setting. Experience a unique "back to basics" camping adventure on our working farm, where the simplicity of rural life is complemented by breathtaking panoramic views of the Peak District and spectacular western sunsets.
Campers enjoy an open, flexible setup with no fixed pitches, as fields are allocated based on livestock grazing and haymaking. There’s no electricity hook-up, encouraging you to immerse yourself in the peaceful sounds of the countryside, free from modern distractions. While there are no hot showers, campers have access to mains drinking water from bright blue pipes in the fields, and eco-friendly compost toilets and long-drop facilities are provided.
Campfires are welcome, as long as they don’t damage the ground, fire pans, braziers, or BBQs are required and we offer handmade fire pans free of charge. Large log bags can be purchased for £5, or you’re welcome to bring your own wood (without nails). Well-behaved dogs are permitted by arrangement but must be kept under close control due to our free-range livestock, including lambs and poultry. Groups are also welcome and can pitch together in a designated area with a single group booking made by a leader. We also have a mobile sauna available with plunge pool (please enquire).
We also offer two unique eco-yurts, each thoughtfully equipped for a comfortable and memorable stay. Inside, you'll find cosy beds, log burners and charming furnishings, along with a fully equipped kitchen featuring a stove, cookware, a mini fridge and a sink with drinking water. Solar lighting adds to the eco-friendly ambiance. Outside, guests can enjoy a standing BBQ, a large circular fire pit for gathering and private facilities including a compost loo and a hot shower. The yurts are available from March to October. Please enquire for rates.
Our farm shop sells its own organic beef, pork and lamb for BBQ’s. We also have polytunnels growing our own salad, which is available seasonally in the farm shop. We can also provide farm walks to groups of 6 or more. The general tour includes seeing the organic production, conservation and archaeology etc.
