Shottisham Campsite welcomes you to 50 spacious touring and camping pitches spread between five small fields, sheltered by native trees and bushes. Get a cosy fire going in the firepits and bring your four legged friend along to join at this dog friendly site. You'll enjoy direct access from the campsite to walking trails through acres of heathland, forest and fields.
The campsite is part of a working smallholding with rare breed sheep, pigs, alpacas, goats and chickens - and you're welcome to help as the animals are fed and eggs collected each evening. Depending on the time of year, you may be lucky enough to meet baby lambs, chicks, piglets and more.
This campsite is committed to sustainable, low-impact living. It's managed in accordance with organic principles and power is all from renewable sources, much of it produced on site by the photovoltaic array.
There are 50 spacious pitches (some with electric hook-up), spread between five small fields and broken up by native trees and bushes.
Campfires are permitted in fire pits (which the site hires out) and you can buy firewood (or you can bring your own). Dogs on secure leads are welcome and there is direct access from the campsite to walking trails through acres of beautiful countryside.
Glampers can hire a fully-equipped bell tent, situated in a very secluded area of the campsite among the trees. It sleeps up to five with a king size bed, futon double bed and futon single bed included.
There are two small shower blocks powered by solar energy, with plenty of hot water, dishwashing areas, a septic emptying point, waste and recycling bins and a fridge-freezer. The older green toilet block has two toilets, washing basins and a shower each for men and for women. The new toilet block ensures there's plenty of facilities for everyone and is a unisex block with more toilets, showers, as well as disabled-access/family toilet and basins.
The site also sells their own home-reared, rare-breed sausages and bacon, as well as eggs, honey and jams, all from their smallholding. In addition, the Blue Rabbit Cafe is open on site, selling home-made breakfasts, brunches and cakes, with Pete's Pizzas available most Fridays too. Just two miles away is an excellent local shop with more shops in the local town.
